Work on Important Industry Issues and Join the GGF’s Political Strategy Committee Today

The GGF Political Strategy Committee (PSC) is pleased to be extending an invitation to Members from the Home Improvement sector and Manufacturing and/or Glass Processing sector to consider signing themselves up for election.

The scope of the PSC is to consider the relevant Government legislation and regulations for the Glazing industry and to represent the views of the GGF with Governments and stakeholders.

What do the Political Strategy Committee do?

The role of the committee is to provide information and knowledge from GGF committees into the GGF political strategy. Members of the PSC will contribute by providing clarity on the issues that the GGF should continue or start to prioritise as part of its overall strategy.

Providing the direction that sustains the organization for the upcoming months, Members of the committee will also be well prepared and will be looking beyond the coming year. Successful candidates will also be assigned to the HIE, GE or Regional Chairs committees.

The GGF are looking for a group of representatives who have relevant experience in working with legislative documents and regulations changes.

Current industry issues that the Political Strategy Committee are working on, include:

  • The Building Regulations and the Approved Documents
  • The Heat and Buildings Strategy
  • The Future Buildings standard
  • The Building Safety Bill
  • The Energy Savings Materials list
  • Glazing: A route to Net Zero
  • The GGF Political Strategy
  • European Product Standards

The GGF Marketing and Communications Committee (MCC) invites Members from the Home Improvement sector and Manufacturing and/or Glass Processing sector to put themselves forward for election onto the Marketing and Communications Committee.

There are currently two places available, one to represent the Home Improvement sector and the other to represent the Manufacturing and or Glass Processing sectors.

The MCC scope and remit is to provide an advisory and steering role for the GGF’s marketing communications and external affairs strategies, activities and resources to ensure the best value and benefit for GGF Members.

The seven GGF Members who currently form the MCC are from different sectors, locations and backgrounds. They are custodians of the GGF brand and responsible for ensuring the external image and reputation of the GGF is protected and projected well to all audiences. 

The current issues the Committee is working on include:

  • GGF consumer marketing campaigns Stay Safe with MyGlazing.com and Think Glass
  • New GGF Publications
  • GGF web content and digital developments
  • GGF presence at industry events and exhibitions
  • GGF Members’ events including Members’ Day
  • Trade Press/Media Relations and PR

What’s expected of successful applicants:

  • To attend approximately 3 x 2 hour meetings per year (currently these are by video link but if they are held face to face then they would be at the GGF HQ in London and travelling expenses are paid within the GGF Expenses Guidelines)
  • To share expertise / knowledge of marketing/PR/media or events
  • To exercise votes on any motions/activity or elections of Chairs and Vice Chairs for the Committee
  • To proofread/check any documents sent to the MCC for approval
  • To occasionally attend any industry exhibitions/events or GGF events on behalf of the committee such as Chairpersons’ Forum

The GGF calendar is packed full with Members meetings in the technical groups, regions, countries, committees and Members’ events.
