GGF PLEASED WITH ZERO CARBON REPORT

GGF PLEASED WITH ZERO CARBON REPORT

The report covers the current status of the Government policy on Zero Carbon for non-domestic buildings and also considered the issues around the recent “Allowable Solutions” consultation.

The Task Group also highlighted the barriers to progress regarding achieving zero carbon in new non-domestic buildings and also proposed that mandatory regulation is put in place. The report also put forward 10 recommendations as part of the solution. The recommendations offered a viable and collaborative approach with a commitment from Government and Industry to achieve the zero carbon targets.

Giles Willson, GGF Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Technical Affairs commented, “This is a very positive start and an excellent report which presents a clear case for action. I look forward to building on this starting point and hope the GGF will be part of the collaboration of Government, Industry and related bodies to develop the recommendations laid out by the Task Group and to ultimately trying to achieve zero carbon in non-domestic buildings. Longer term, we must also look at the energy efficiency and carbon reductions in existing non-domestic buildings. This is by far the bigger challenge ahead.”
