GGF London Regional Meeting at the Shard

GGF London Regional Meeting at the Shard

The GGF London Region had a very well attended meeting this month. A large group of both members and staff met to discuss recent industry updates, and to celebrate the regions active involvement, all whilst in the London skyline with a view from the Shard.

There was a busy agenda in which members received John Agnew’s Managing Directors update and forecasts for the coming year. Chris Beedel also gave an overview of the GGF’s improved position with Government and the regulatory landscape which is made up of various stake holders or departments, and how this is changing in the near future. It highlighted the importance of Government Advocacy and the Technical Teams role to our members as targets for net zero, future homes strategy and Building Safety Bill could have a significant impact of the glass and glazing sector.

John Mannell introduced Lauren Mawford as the new Health Safety and Environmental Manager and gave members an update on GGF Training in which there are now new spaces available to join the GGF Skilled Pathways Scheme. Prior to visiting the Shard for the first networking event since 2019 the meeting ended with a summary of the latest Technical Report which will shortly be found in full in the GGF Technical Hub.

It was a great meeting in which we celebrated Fay Bibi from Glazpart being nominated for Business Development Manager of the Year at National Fenestration Awards. Both former Chairs of the London Region, Sam Grant and John Mannell, incredibly completed the London Marathon for their chosen charities SENSE and CALM – Campaign Against Living Miserably.

And for those that could not attend the meeting, the London Region Chair Paul Miller wanted to pay his respects on behalf of the region to the late Ian Chisholm. Ian was the former Chief Exec at the Glass and Glazing Federation and it was to acknowledge his significant contribution not just to the GGF, but to FENSA and the industry as a whole.
