New partnership to help Members reduce Business Rates costs

In 2019, the GGF used Cluttons’ services to review the Federation’s business rates and saved the GGF thousands of pounds. Following this success and has now agreed a partnership with the specialist property company for the benefit of GGF Members. 

Cluttons’ experienced and dedicated team of rating specialists have helped businesses assess, manage and challenge business rates and in the process have secured millions of pounds of savings on behalf of their clients throughout the 2010 and 2017 Rating Lists.

With the new partnership, Cluttons are offering all GGF Members a free audit to examine likely savings on their business rates.

On the partnership, John Agnew, GGF Managing Director commented, “We are delighted that Cluttons are official GGF partners and offering Members a new benefit. When the GGF used Cluttons last year not only did they get the GGF get a big refund, but also a massive reduction in our rateable value saving us thousands of pounds. In the current climate, this is a great opportunity for Members to get some much needed cash back by reviewing their business rates.”

HOW CLUTTONS CAN HELP YOU

• Check, challenge and appeal rateable values to reduce valuations
• Apply for disturbance rebates for issues such as temporary roadworks or building works nearby
• Obtaining empty rates relief on partial or fully vacant properties to reduce costs
• Undertake the rates payment and management to ensure no overpayments or missed payments
• Monitor rates payable to ensure accurate bill calculations from the Billing Authority
• Rate Audit – Review historic payments to check rate demands have been accurately calculated and request any overpayments as refunds.

FEE BASIS

All work is undertaken based on a percentage of savings, so there is only a fee payable if the business rates are reduced.

FUTURE REVALUATIONS

As well as challenging the 2017 Rating List, there is a revaluation due on 1 April 2021 and every three years following.
