Lead in the Future of Glass and Glazing Excellence – Join the GGF as Head of Technical

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) is the leading authority for companies involved in the manufacture, supply, and installation of glass and glazing products across the UK and internationally. We shape industry best practices, drive technical and safety standards, and advocate for the sector’s interests at all levels of UK government and policy-making.

We’re now seeking a dynamic Head of Technical to lead our Technical Department. This senior role is crucial to the GGF’s strategic direction, combining leadership, innovation, and expert technical insight. You will help shape the future of industry standards, guide a team of specialists, and be the Federation’s voice on key technical and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and deliver departmental strategies that align with the GGF’s wider vision and goals.
• Technical Authority: Provide expert guidance across the sector, oversee the creation of technical publications, and advise government and regulatory bodies.
• Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Technical Team, setting clear objectives, supporting growth, and promoting a collaborative culture.
• Public Engagement: Represent the GGF at industry events, conferences, and in media – speaking with authority on the Federation’s technical stance.
• Operational Oversight: Manage departmental budgets, technical events, consultancy services, and stakeholder relationships with transparency and impact.
• Innovation & Influence: Drive improvements in processes, respond to emerging issues, and contribute to technical policy consultations and standards committees.

About You

• A seasoned professional with deep expertise in the glass and glazing sector.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
• Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders, from SMEs all the way to global organisations and government agencies.
• Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets and identifying growth opportunities.
• An excellent communicator, skilled in public speaking and stakeholder relations.
• Committed to innovation, technical excellence, and supporting the success of GGF members.

The Head of Technical is a hybrid role with meetings and engagements around the UK and occasional international travel.
