The GGF Fire Resistant Glazing Group’s broad aim is to ensure that all those responsible (from architects to specifiers through to manufacturers and installers) for fire safety in buildings are well informed to make the right decisions when it comes fire safety.

Fire Resistant Glazing Group

Fire-resistant glazing systems can be used to prevent fire and smoke spreading through walls and doors, to other parts of a building. It can be used to provide fire separation or as an integral part of an integrated fire safety strategy.

Fire Resistant Glazing Video

The Group has created a video that demonstrates how Fire Resistant Glazing performs when installed correctly. Fire-resistant glass can only achieve its optimum performance as part of a complete fire-resistant glazed system. This means that all elements of the system – such as the glazing seals, beading, fixings and frame material – must be work together to achieve the required performance, and must meet the appropriate and relevant test evidence and is installed as tested or assessed by a competent authority.

Fire resistant glass and glazing only performs if installed correctly and by competent professional installers.

The GGF Fire Resistant Glazing Group’s broad aim is to ensure that all those responsible (from architects to specifiers through to manufacturers and installers) for fire safety in buildings are well informed to make the right decisions when it comes fire safety.

The importance of Fire Resistant Glazing cannot be over-emphasized, the right products installed correctly can prevent injury, protect property and most importantly save lives.

Upcoming Event

In recent years, the GGF Fire Resistant Glazing Group has been active at FIREX International, where the GGF has held talks, seminars and engaged with professionals from the fire safety sector. The GGF exhibition stand at FIREX has also displayed live exhibits of glass screens showing the before and after effects of fire on fire resistant glazing as well as video demonstrations showing the performance of fire resistant glazing systems when exposed to fire and smoke.

Fire Resistant Glazing Installer Training

“This course was developed by GGF Technical Team and Fire Resistant Glass & Glazing Group.
The basis for this course is to provide knowledge about fire resistant glass and glazing, covering the basic fundamentals of fire protection and why it is needed, what it is, where it is needed and how it is achieved.

We look at the behaviour of glazing in fire situations and the key differences between fire resistant glazing systems and ordinary glazing, illustrating the consequences of getting it wrong against getting it right.

The course will suit those new to the subject as well as those already in the industry looking to refresh or update their knowledge.”
