Employee Safety in the Glass and Glazing Industry
Working within the glass and glazing industry can present many hazards however it is as safe as working in any other industry providing that systems and controls are in place. Remember that glass is fragile and, when broken, will cut any soft material with which it comes into contact. It does not even need to break to cause injury because a cut edge is always present. Sealed units pose a different risk to workers as mishandling and incorrect manoeuvring can result in muscular injury. Although this guide is written in the context of the UK legal framework through the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, this GGF Guide is neither a legal document nor a comprehensive manual on workplace safety. It is designed to be an easy-to-read, handy pocket-sized reference guide.
