GGF readies FIREX 2018 presentation

GGF readies FIREX 2018 presentation

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) is ready to cover various aspects of fire glazing at the FIREX show taking place on the 19th to 21st June at London ExCel on stand A475.

In consideration of Grenfell Tower, the presentation on “Fire-rated Glazing – Getting It Right, Getting it Wrong” will discuss the importance of how glass plays its part in the fire strategy of a building.

This informative and educational presentation will highlight the multiple components of a fire-resistant glazing system and will show – through the promotion of best practice – what building contractors, designers, architects and specifiers need in order to achieve a fully-certified fire performance from their glazing.

Adrian Blaydon, GGF Technical Officer and Secretary of the Fire Resistant Glazing Group (FRGG) explained: “By attending this presentation, you will gain an appreciation of the significance of fire-resistant glazing, the performance levels of which it is capable; and how vital it is to combine the appropriate materials along with the correct installation method to achieve a certified fire-resisting performance.”

The unique discussion will focus on how non fire-rated glass products react in a fire situation, depicting how they are likely to fail spontaneously or within a short amount of time. This exclusive presentation will touch upon the types of fire performances required; and how glass, framing, glazing seals and installation combine to achieve them.

At the FIREX show the GGF will also be giving away a free hard copy of the newly launched Fire Resistant Glazing Guide (RRP £150) to the first 20 visitors to the GGF stand.

FIREX runs from 19th to 21st June at London’s ExCel.
