GGF PRESIDENT TAKES ON BORDER2BORDER CYCLING CHALLENGE

GGF PRESIDENT TAKES ON BORDER2BORDER CYCLING CHALLENGE

The ride, sponsored by GGF Member Deceuninck, will take place over 11 days and will span 2,016 miles between Vancouver, Canada and Tijuana, Mexico, and will offer up more than 92,000 feet of climbing with temperatures in excess of 40 degrees.

Each of the eighteen riders will raise a minimum of £3,500 in sponsorship and combined with the income from kit sponsorship and the headline sponsor the fundraising target for Border 2 Border is £100,000. Every penny raised will go directly to Hope House Children’s Hospices because the riders and support team will each cover their own personal costs such as flights, hotels and subsistence.

Andrew commented:

“We will set off from Vancouver on 12th June 2016 and will cross seven mountain ranges as we make our way to the Mexican border.  Much of the ride will be taking place in the absolute wilderness of mountains and deserts including the Cascade Mountains, Colombian Plateau, Sacramento Valley, Californian Coastal Mountains, the Sierra Nevada, the Mojave Desert and the San Antonio Mountains.

“Obviously we don’t do this for fun – it’s incredibly hard!  We do this to raise much needed funds for Hope House.  Every penny that is donated goes directly to the charity to helping some very poorly and dying children get support and respite. If you have ever had the opportunity to visit Hope House, or indeed any other Children’s Hospice, you would understand why we put ourselves through such difficult challenges to raise money.”
